Year
end is both glorious and stressful. As
you may have noticed, in recent months,
we have not updated our site with the
regularity you have come to expect. I
deeply apologize for that and pledge to
do more to tell more of the stories that
matter to you.
Despite our
year-end challenges, 2004 was an exceptional
year for us. We published more stories and had
more visitors than ever before. Sadly, a
significant portion of the increase in traffic
has been drawn to our growing tribute to
military personnel killed in Iraq and
Afghanistan.
This has been an
extremely difficult time for families with loved
ones serving in the military. I extend my
deepest sympathies to all of you who will never
again celebrate a new year with a loved one. We
cannot measure the extent of your loss.
Presently, we can only list the name, age, city
of birth, military affiliation and cause of
death of those who have been killed in Iraq and
Afghanistan. It is a small but important way to
memorialize their sacrifice for our country.
Since our nation’s
founding, young men have been willing to step
into harms way to protect and advance America’s
interests. Today, young men are joined by young
women who also serve with pride and
distinction. On behalf of the entire staff at
diversityinbusiness.com, I extend my
sincerest thanks to those you serving in our
Armed Services.
In the tradition
of the season, I would also like to thank
everyone who allowed us to tell their stories
this year. Those stories informed, inspired and
encouraged more people than any one could have
imagined. Thank you.
I must also
apologize to those of you whose stories were not
published this year. We are working on a
special edition to recognize your journeys and
accomplishments.
Finally, I’d like
to thank those of you who regularly check out
our site and let us know that what we do has
value to you. Your support means much more than
I can express with words, but let it suffice to
say thank you.
As we enter a new
year, I wish you peace, good health and
prosperity.
Blessings to you
and yours,
Dan
