40, of Groton, Massachusetts, died September 30 in
Baghdad, Iraq, when his unit came under mortar attack.
Cunningham was assigned to the 89th Military Police
Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

Dies of Injuries Received in September 18 Attack on
Convoy
Spc. Allen Nolan, 38,
of Marietta, Ohio, died September 30 at Fort Sam
Houston, Texas, of injuries sustained on September 18 in
Balad, Iraq, when his convoy vehicle struck an
improvised explosive device and then came under small
arms fire. Nolan was assigned to the Army Reserve's
660th Transportation Company, Zanesville, Ohio. |

20, of Somerset, Kentucky, died September 29 in
Ar Ramadi, Iraq, of injuries sustained on

Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey,

Soldier Dies From Injuries Received September 22 in
a Vehicle Incident
Staff Sgt. Mike A. Dennie,
31, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, died September 29
in Balad, Iraq, from injuries sustained on September 22
in Baghdad, Iraq, when the driver of his military
vehicle pulled off the road and lost control, causing it
to roll over. Dennie was assigned to the 106th Finance
Battalion from Kitzingen, Germany. |

UT Guard Member Dies of Non-Combat Related Injuries
Staff Sgt. Alan L. Rogers,
49, of Kearns, Utah, died September 29 in Bagram,
Afghanistan, of non-combat related injuries. Rogers was
assigned to the Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion,
211th Aviation Regiment, West Jordan, Utah. |

Soldier Dies From Injuries Sustained in Grenade Attack

Sgt. Tyler D. Prewitt,
22, of Phoenix, Arizonia, died September 28 in Landstuhl,
Germany, from injuries sustained in Baqubah, Iraq, on
September 24 when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his
vehicle and exploded. Prewitt was assigned to 2nd
Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division,
Vilseck, Germany.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 27, 2004 -- Two
Americans were killed in Iraq today, one day
after Secretary of State Colin Powell said the
insurrection in the country "is getting worse."
Two 1st Infantry Division
soldiers died in two separate incidents near
Balad, officials said. The first was the result
of a traffic accident. A patrol vehicle swerved
to miss a truck. It overturned, and two soldiers
were injured. They were evacuated, and one died
later.
The second soldier was killed
when anti-Iraqi forces attacked his patrol as it
was returning from the scene of the accident.

20, of Apple Valley, California, died September 27 due
to a non-combat related incident in Al Anbar Privince,
Iraq. Sickels was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th
Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Air
Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, California. |
Soldier Killed in Vehicle Incident

Spc. Gregory A. Cox,
21, of Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, died September 27 in
Balad, Iraq, when his military vehicle was
unintentionally run off the road by a civilian vehicle
causing it to rollover. Cox was assigned to 1st
Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division,
Schweinfurt, Germany.
Soldier Killed by Sniper While on Post

Sgt. 1st Class Joselito O. Villanueva,
36, of Los Angeles, California, died September 27 in
Balad, Iraq, when he was shot by a sniper while at an
observation post. Villanueva was assigned to the 9th
Engineer Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt,
Germany.

Oregon Guard Member Killed in IED Attack
Spc. David W. Johnson,
37, of
Portland, Oregon, died September 25 in Baghdad, Iraq,
when an improvised explosive device detonated near his
convoy vehicle. Johnson was assigned to the Army
National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment,
Cottage Grove, Oregon.
PA Guard Member Dies of Non-Combat Related Injuries
Spc. Clifford L. Moxley, Jr.,
51, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, died September 25 in
Baghdad, Iraq, of non-combat related injuries. Moxley
was assigned to the Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion,
103rd Armor Regiment, Berwick, Pennsylvania. |

Three Marines died September 24 as result
of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. They
were all members of the 1st Marine Division, I Marine
Expeditionary Force.

Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary

Lance Cpl Vincent Sullivan,
died September 23, 2004. The DoD did not
issue a release regarding Sullivan's death,
however, the American Forces Press Service
reported that a
U.S. Marine
with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force was
killed in Baghdad on this date while conducting
security and stability operations in the Anbar
province in Iraq. We assume that Sullivan
was the Marine involved in that incident. |

Vehicle-Based IED Kills Soldier at Post

Sgt. Skipper Soram,
23, of Kolonia Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia,
died Sept. 22 in Baghdad, Iraq, when a vehicle-based
improvised explosive device detonated near his security
post. The AFPS reported that four soldiers were also
injured, three seriously, in the blast that occurred
near a traffic checkpoint. Soram was assigned to
3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st
Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Soldier Killed by IED in Tikrit While on Patrol
Staff Sgt. Lance J. Koenig,
33, of Fargo, North Dakota, died September 22 in Tikrit,
Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated
while he was conducting a dismounted patrol. The AFPS
reported that the blast occurred around 9:15 a.m. Koenig
was assigned to the Army National Guard's 141st Engineer
Battalion, Jamestown, North Dakota. |

Alabama.
Soldier Dies of Injuries Received in Shargat

Spc. Joshua J. Henry,
21, of Avonmore, Pennsylvania, died September 20 in
Tikrit, Iraq, of injuries sustained when his convoy was
attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire in
Sharqat, Iraq. Henry was assigned to the 1st Battalion,

Two Special Forces
Members Killed in Ambush
Two members of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces
Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina died September 20, in
Shkin, Afghanistan when their patrol vehicle was
ambushed by enemy forces using small arms fire and
rocket-propelled grenades. Killed were:

Enemy Action Claims Two Soldiers in Al Anbar Province
|
Two members of the 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense
Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood,
Texas died September 18 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an
improvised explosive device hit their convoy vehicle.
On September 19, 2004, the American Forces Press Service
reported that a
car bomb attack had occurred late September 18 in
Baghdad killing two Task Force Baghdad soldiers and
wounding eight more. The Task Force Baghdad soldiers
killed and injured Saturday were en route to the site of
an earlier attack when the bomb exploded around 4 p.m.
Three vehicles were also destroyed in that attack.

Spc. Yoe M. Aneiros,
20, of Newark, New Jersey, died September 7 in Sadr City
when his patrol vehicle came under attack by enemy
forces using rocket-propelled grenades. Aneiros
was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor, 3rd
Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.
MP Killed by Enemy Forces
1st Lt. Timothy E. Price,
25, of Midlothian, Virginia, died September 7 when he

Soldier Killed in Attack on Convoy
Spc. Brandon M. Read,
21, of Greenville, Tennessee, died September 6 in
Qayyarah West, Iraq, when his convoy came under attack
by enemy forces using an improvised explosive device.
Read was assigned to the 125th Transportation Company
from Lexington, Kentucky.
Two Soldiers Killed - Including Texas Guard Member - in Baghdad
Attacks

Staff Sgt. Elvis Bourdon,
36, of Youngstown, Ohio, died September 6 in Baghdad
when his military vehicle came under attack by enemy
forces using small arms fire and grenades. Bourdon
was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment,
1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas.
Spc. Tomas Garces,
19, of Weslaco, Texas, died September 6 in Baghdad, Iraq
when his convoy was attacked by enemy forces using an
improvised explosive device. Garces was assigned
to the Army National Guard's 1836th Transportation
Company from Fort Bliss, Texas.

Pfc. Devin J. Grella,
21, of Medina, Ohio, died September 6 in Iraq after an
improvised explosive device exploded near his convoy
vehicle. Grella was assigned to the Army Reserve's
706th Transportation Company from Mansfield, Ohio. |

Airman Dies From Injuries in Vehicle Incident
Capt. John J. Boria,
29, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, died September 6 from
injuries he received in an all terrain vehicle accident
in Doha, Qatar. Boria was supporting Operation
Iraqi Freedom and was assigned to the 911th Air
Refueling Squadron, Grand Forks Air Force Base in North
Dakota. |

Staff Sgt. Gary A. Vaillant,
41, of Trujillo, Puerto Rico, died September 5 in
Khalidiya, Iraq, when his tank ran over an improvised
explosive device. Vaillant was assigned to the 2nd
Battalion, 72 Armor Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division,
Camp Casey, Korea. |

20, of Lewisville, Texas, died September 5 in Baghdad
when his patrol came under attack by enemy forces using
small arms fire. McCauley was assigned to the 2nd

Fort Hood, Texas.

Sailor Killed in Attack on Work Area
Petty Officer 3rd Class Eric L.
Knott, 21, of Grand Island, Nebraska, was
killed September 4 when the area in which he was working
was struck by enemy fire. Knott died of shrapnel
wounds. Knott was assigned to Naval Mobile Construction
Battalion 4, Port Hueneme, California.

Four members of the
Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center died
September 3 due to
enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. They were
all members of the 1st Marine Division, I Expeditionary
