Marine Killed in Al Anbar Province

Lance Cpl. Dustin L. Sides, 22, of Yakima, Washington, died May 31 from hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Sides was assigned to the 9th Communications Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Soldier Killed by Rocket-Propelled Grenades

Pfc. Nicholaus E. Zimmer, 20, of Columbus, Ohio, died May 30 in Kufa, Iraq, when his vehicle came under attack by rocket-propelled grenades.  Zimmer was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedburg, Germany.


Two Soldiers Killed When Vehicle Hit IED

Two members of the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany, died May 30 in Al Musayyib, Iraq, when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device. Killed were:

Sgt. Aaron C. Elandt, 23, of Lowell, Michigan.

Capt. Robert C. Scheetz, Jr., 31, of Dothan, Alabama.


Soldier Killed in Attack on Living Quarters

Pvt. Bradli N. Coleman, 19, of Ford City, Pennsylvania, died May 30 in Baghdad, Iraq, from injuries sustained on May 29 in Mosul, Iraq, when mortar rounds hit his living quarters.  Coleman was assigned to the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington.


Soldier Killed When Convoy Hits IED

Spc. Charles E. Odums II, 22, of Sandusky, Ohio, died May 30 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his military convoy hit an improvised explosive device.  Odums was assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.


Soldier Killed in Firefight with Insurgents

1st Lt. Kenneth Michael Ballard, 26, of Mountain View, California, died May 30 in Najaf, Iraq, during a firefight with insurgents.  Ballard was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedburg, Germany.

Three Marines Killed in Al Anbar Province

Three members of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California died May 29, due to hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Killed were:

   

Pfc. Cody S. Calavan, 19, of Lake Stevens, Washington.

Lance Cpl. Benjamin R. Gonzalez, 23, of Los Angeles, California.

Soldier Dies of Non-Combat Related Injuries

Spc. Michael J. Wiesermann, 20, of North Judson, Indiana, died May 29, at Forward Operating Base Q-West (Quyarrah Air Base, Iraq) of non-combat related injuries.  Wiesemann was assigned to the Army's 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington.

Three Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan When Vehicle Hits Land Mine

Two soldiers and one reservist died May 29 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when their vehicle hit a land mine.  Killed were:

Two members of the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  They were:

Capt. Daniel W. Eggers, 28, of Cape Coral, Florida.

Staff Sgt. Robert J. Mogensen, 26, of Leesville, Louisiana.

The third soldier was

Pfc. Joseph A. Jeffries, 21, of Beaverton, Oregon.  Jeffries was assigned to the Army Reserve's 329th Psychological Operations Company, Portland, Oregon.


 U.S. NAVY

Navy Casualty Reported

The Department of Defense announced the death of Petty Officer 1st Class Brian J. Ouellette, 37, of Needham, Massachusetts.  Ouellette was a U.S. Navy SEAL serving with Navy Special Warfare Group Two, Little Creek, Virginia, supporting Operating Enduring Freedom.

Three Marines Killed in Al Anbar Province

Three members of the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California died May 26, due to hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Killed were:

   

Lance Cpl. Kyle W. Codner, 19, of Wood River, Nebraska.

Cpl. Matthew C. Henderson, 25, of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Cpl. Dominique J. Nicolas, 25, of Maricopa, Arizona.

Two Soldiers Killed by IED While on Patrol

Two members of the 3rd Battalion, 62nd Air Defense Artillery, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York, died May 25 in Fallujah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device hit their patrol. Killed were:

Pfc. Richard H. Rosas, 21, of Saint Louis, Michigan

Pfc. James P. Lambert, 23, of New Orleans, Louisiana


 ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

Three Guardsmen Killed in Attack on Base

Three Army Guard members were killed in a rocket mortar attack on Forward Operating Base Kalsu in Iskandariyah, Iraq.  The attack occurred on May 25th. Killed were:

Pfc. Daniel P. Unger, 19, of Exeter, California, died May 25 in Iskandariyah, Iraq.  Unger was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 195th Armor, 81st Separate Armor Brigade, Visalia, California.

Two members of the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 86th Field Artillery, from Williston, Vermont also died May 25 in Forward Operating Base Kalsu (Iskandariyah, Iraq,) when their unit came under mortar attack. Killed were:

Spc. Alan N. Bean, Jr., 22, of Bridport, Vermont

Sgt. Kevin F. Sheehan, 36, of Milton, Vermont.

Soldier Killed in Mortar Attack

Spc. Beau R. Beaulieu, 20, of Lisbon, Maine, died May 24 in Taji, Iraq, during a mortar attack on Camp Cooke.  Beaulieu was assigned to the 27th Main Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.


Soldier Killed in Vehicle Roll-Over

Pfc. Owen D. Witt, 20, of Sand Springs, Montana, died May 24 in Ad Dawr, Iraq, when his armored high-mobility-multipurpose-wheeled vehicle rolled over.  Witt was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.

Two Marines from Rialto, California Killed

Two members of the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California died May 23 as a result of hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Killed were:

Roadside Attack Kills Illinois Guardsman

Spc. Jeremy L. Ridlen, 23, of Paris, Illinois, died May 23 in East Fallujah, Iraq, from small arms fire after a dumptruck on the side of the road was detonated while his military convoy passed by.  Ridlen was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1544 Transportation Company, Paris, Illinois.

Marine Killed by Hostile Action

Lance Cpl. Andrew J. Zabierek, 25, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, died May 21 due to hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Zabierek was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina,  Zabierek's unit was attached to I MEF in Iraq.

Soldier Killed by Exploding IED

Staff Sgt. Jeremy R. Horton, 24, of Carneys Point, Pennsylvania, died May 21, near Al Iskandariyah, Iraq when an improvised explosive device exploded.  Horton was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.

Marine Killed in Vehicle Accident

Cpl. Rudy Salas, 20, of Baldwin Park, California, died May 20, due to a non-combat related vehicle accident in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Salas was assigned to the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Soldier Killed When Vehicle Hits IED

Pcf. Leslie D Jackson, 18, of Richmond, Virginia, died May 20, in Baghdad, Iraq, when her military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device as it was returning to Camp Eagle.  Jackson was assigned to A Company, 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Arkansas Guardsman Killed in Grenade Attack

Sgt. First Class Troy L. Miranda, 44, of DeQueen, Arkansas, died May 20, in Baghdad, Iraq, when a grenade was thrown near his foot patrol.  Miranda was assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas Army National Guard, which was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division.

Soldier Killed When Convoy Hits IED

Spc. Michael C. Campbell, 34, of Marshfield, Missouri, died May 19, in Samarra, Iraq, when his convoy hit an improvised explosive device.  Campbell was assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.

Marine Killed After Falling Into A Canal

Pfc. Michael M. Carey, 20, of Prince George, Virginia, died May 18 in Iraq.  Apparently, Carey fell into a canal and did not resurface.  His remains were recovered on May 18.  Carey was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Pendleton, California.


 U.S. ARMY

Soldier Killed by Sniper Fire While on Patrol

Staff Sgt. Joseph P. Garyantes, 34, of Rehoboth, Delaware, died May 18 by sniper fire in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, while on a combat patrol.  Garyantes was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany.


Soldier Electrocuted in Accident

Spc. Marcos O. Nolasco, 34, of Chino, California, died May 18 in Baji, Iraq, as a result of an electrocution accident.  Nolasco was assigned to Battery B, 1st Battalion, 33rd Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division, Bamberg, Germany.


 ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

Illinois Guardsman Dies From Non-Combat Related Injury

Staff Sgt. William D. Chaney, 59, of Schaumburg, Illinois, died May 18, in Landstuhl, Germany due to a non-combat related injury.  Initial reports indicated that Chaney was medically evacuated from Iraq to Germany for surgery due to a sudden medical condition.  He died from complications following surgery.  Chaney was assigned to the Army National Guard, Company B, 1st Battalion, 106th Aviation Regiment, Chicago, Illinois.

Marine Killed by Hostile Fire

Lance Cpl. Bob W. Roberts, 30, of Newport, Oregon, died May 17, due to hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Roberts was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Soldier Killed in IED Attack

2nd Lt. Leonard M. Cowherd, 22, of Culpeper, Virginia, died May 16, in Karbala, Iraq, when he received sniper and rocket propelled grenade fire while securing a building near the Mukhayam Mosque.  Cowherd was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany.


 ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

Two Soldiers from Pennsylvania Killed by IED

Two members of the Army National Guard's Battery C, 1st Battalion, 107th Field Artillery Regiment, Oil City, Pennsylvania died May 16 in Al Karmah, Iraq, when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device.  Killed were:

Spc. Mark J. Kasecky, 20, of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania.

Spc. Carl F. Curran, 22, of Union City, Pennsylvania.

Soldier Killed in IED Attack

Staff Sgt. Rene Ledesma, 34, of Abelene, Texas, died May 15, in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device explored near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle.  Ledesma was assigned to the Army's 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Airman Dies From Non-Hostile Injuries

Senior Airman Pedro I. Espalillat, Jr., 20, of Colombia, Tennessee, died May 15 as a result of non-hostile injuries in Kirkuk, Iraq.  Espalillat was assigned to the 4th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina.

Soldier Ambushed in Afghanistan

Chief Warrant Officer Bruce E. Price, 37, of Maryland, died May 15, in Kajaki, Afghanistan, when individuals using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire ambushed his unit.  Price was assigned to the Army's 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Two Soldiers Die from Combat Injuries

Two members of the Army's 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany died May 14 in Baghdad, Iraq, from injuries sustained on May 13, in Karbala, Iraq. Killed were:

Sgt. Brud J. Cronkrite, 22, of Spring Valley, California.  Cronkrite, sustained injuries on May 13, in Karbala, Iraq when a rocket-propelled grenade fired into a building near him during a security patrol.

Spc. Philip I. Spakosky, 25, of Browns Mill, New Jersey.  Spakosky sustained injuries on May 13, in Karbala, Iraq when he was shot by a suspected sniper.


Soldier Dies in Vehicle Mishap

Pfc. Michael A. Mora, 19, of Arroyo Grande, California, died May 14 in An Najaf, Iraq, when his military vehicle slid off the road and turned over.  Mora was assigned to the Army's 3rd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Polk, Louisiana.


 U.S. ARMY RESERVE

Reservist Killed by Suicidal Bomber

Sgt. James W. Harlan, 44, of Owensboro, Kentucky, died May 14 at Camp Anaconda, Iraq, when a suicide bomber detonated a car bomb next to his vehicle.  Harlan was assigned to the Army Reserve's 660th Transportation Company, 88th Regional Readiness Command, Zanesville, Ohio.


Soldier Dies from Non-Combat Injuries

Command Sgt. Major Edward C. Barnhill, 50, of Shreveport, Louisiana, died May 14, in Baghdad, Iraq, of non-combat related injuries.  Barnhill was assigned to the Army Reserve's 431st Civil Affairs Battalion, North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Marine Killed by Hostile Fire

Pfc. Brandon C. Sturdy, 19, of Urbandale, Iowa, died May 13, from hostile fire in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Sturdy was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

 

Unconscious Marine Pronounced Dead

Pfc. Brian K. Cutter, 19, of Riverside, California, was found unconscious on May 13, and was later pronounced dead in Al Asad, Iraq.  Cause of death is under investigation.  Cutter was assigned to the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Marine Dies from Combat Injuries

Lance Cpl. Jeremiah E. Savage, 21, of Livingston, Tennessee, died May 12 of wounds received due to hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Savage was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Pendleton, California.

Vehicle Hits IED - Guard Member Dies

Spc. Jeffrey R. Shaver, 26, of Maple Valley, Washington, died May 12 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his convoy vehicle hit an improvised explosive device.  Shaver was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 161st Infantry, Spokane, Washington.

Guard Member Killed When Vehicle Hits IED

Spc. Kyle A. Brinlee, 21, of Pryor, Oklahoma, died May 11 in Al Asad, Iraq, when his convoy vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.  Brinlee was assigned to the Army National Guard's Detachment 1, Company B, 120th Combat Engineer Battalion, Pryor, Oklahoma.

Soldier Killed While on Guard Duty

Pfc. Andrew L. Tuazon, 21, of Chesapeake, Virginia, died May 10, in Mosul, Iraq, from hostile fire while on guard duty.  Tuazon was assigned to the Army's 293rd Military Police Company, 3rd Military Police Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Soldier Killed in Vehicle Incident

Sgt. Rodney A. Murray, 28, of Ayden, North Carolina, died May 9, in Iraq, in a vehicle accident between Baghdad and Scania.  Murray's military vehicle collided with a Bradley Fighting Vehicle.  Murray was assigned to the Army Reserve's 351st Military Police Company, Ocala, Florida.

Soldier Dies from Injuries Sustained in IED Attack

Spc. Philip D. Brown, 21, of El Paso, Texas, died May 8 in Balad, Iraq, from injuries sustained west of Samarra by an improvised explosive device.  Brown was assigned to the Army National Guard's Company B, 141st Engineer Combat Battalion, Jamestown, North Dakota.


Another Soldier Dies from Injuries Sustained in IED Attack

Spc. James J. Holmes, 28, of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, died May 8 in Landstuhl, Germany, from injuries sustained on May 3 in Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near the driver side of his military vehicle.  Holms was assigned to C Company, 141st Engineer Combat Battalion, North Dakota National Guard, Hettinger, North Dakota.


Soldier Killed in Mortar Attack

Spc. Isela Rubalcava, 25, of El Paso, Texas, died May 8 in Mosul, Iraq, when a mortar round hit near her.  Rubalcava was assigned to the 296th Combat Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington.


Soldier Electrocuted in Pool

Spc. Chase R. Whitman, 21, of Oregon, died May 8, in Mosul, Iraq, while he was in a swimming pool when an electrical current charged the water.  Whitman was assigned to the 296th Forward Support Battalion (Brigade Support Battalion), 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington.

Marine Killed in Afghanistan

Cpl. Ronald R. Payne, Jr., 23, of Lakeland, Florida, died May 8th due to hostile action in the vicinity of Tawara, Afghanistan.  Rayne was assigned to the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Second Marine in Two Days Found Dead in Al Anbar Province

Cpl. Dustin H. Schrage, 20, of Brevard, Florida, was found deceased on May 6 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Cause of death is under investigation.  Schrage was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Pendleton, California.

Car Bomb Kills Guard Member While on Post

Staff Sgt. Hesley Box, Jr., 24, of Nashville, Arkansas, died May 6 in Baghdad, Iraq, when a car bomb detonated near his guard post.  Box was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 153rd Infantry, 39th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Arkansas National Guard, Texarkana, Arkansas.

Marine Found Dead in Euphrates River

Cpl. Jeffrey G. Green, 20, of Dallas, Texas was found deceased on May 5 in the Euphrates River, in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  Cause of death is under investigation.  Green was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Pendleton, California.


 U.S. ARMY

Soldier Struck and Killed by Dump Truck

Pfc. Jesse R. Buryj, 21, of Canton, Ohio, died May 5, in Karabala, Iraq, when his military vehicle was struck by a dump truck whose driver had been shot while trying to run through a control point.  Buryj was assigned to the 66th Military Police Company, Fort Lewis, Washington.

Note: The PBS news show "NOW," has determined that the military's initial explanation as to the cause of Pfc. Jesse Buryj's death was not accurate.  He was shot in the back, and the source was either friendly fire or coalition forces.  Click here to learn more.


Two Soldiers Killed in Baghdad IED Attack

Two members of the Army's 1st Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, from Fort Hood, Texas, died May 5, in Baghdad, Iraq, when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive devise. Killed were:

Gunnery Sgt. Ronald E. Baum, 38, of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, died May 3 due to hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  He was assigned to the 2nd Intelligence Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Soldier Killed by Small Arms Fire

Staff Sgt. Erickson H. Petty, 28, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, died May 3, in Salman Al Habb, Iraq, from an attack by small arms fire while conducting security of a weapons cache.  Petty was assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Smith Barracks, Baumholder, Germany.


Four Soldiers Killed in Vehicle Mishap

Four members of the 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany, died May 3, in Balad, Iraq, when their military vehicle left the road and flipped over in a canal. Killed were:

1st Lt. Christopher J. Kenny, 32, of Miami, Florida.

Sgt. Marvin R. Sprayberry, III, 24, of Tehachapi, California.

Sgt. Gregory L. Wahl, 30, of Salisbury, North Carolina.

Two Soldiers Killed in Baghdad IED Attack

Two members of the Army's 91st Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, from Fort Hood, Texas, died May 2, in Baghdad, Iraq, when their convoy vehicle hit an improvised explosive devise.  Killed were:

Spc. Ervin Caradine, Jr., 33, of Memphis, Tennessee.

Pvt. Jeremy L. Drexler, 23, of Topeka, Kansas.


Explosion Kills Army Captain

Capt. John E. Tipton, 32, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, died May 2 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, from an explosion while conducting combat operations.  Tipton commanded Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.


Soldier Killed in Kirkuk

Staff Sgt. Todd E. Nunes, 29, of Chapel Hills, Tennessee, died May 2 in Kirkuk, Iraq, when his convoy encountered an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.  Nunes was assigned to 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Hostile Fire Results in the Death of Five Sailors

Five sailors assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, Jackson, Florida, died May 2 in the Al Anbar Province as a result of hostile fire. Killed were:

Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael C. Anderson., 36, of Dayton, Florida.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Trace W. Dossett, 37, of Orlando, Florida.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Scott R. McHugh, 33, of Boca Raton, Florida.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert B. Jenkins, 35, of Stuart, Florida.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Ronald A. Ginther, 37, of Auburndale, Florida.

Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

Spc. Philip L. Whitkowski, 24, of Fredonia, New York, died May 1, in Homberg, Germany, from non-combat related injuries sustained on April 30, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.  Witkowski was assigned to the Army's 7th Field Artillery, 25th Infantry Division (Light) from Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Hawaii.


 U.S. ARMY

Two Soldiers Killed in Convoy Attack

Two members of the Army's 84th Engineer Battalion, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Hawaii died May 1, in Al Amarah, Iraq, when their convoy was attacked. Killed were:

Staff Sgt. Oscar D. Vargas-Medina, 32, of Chicago, Illinois.

Spc. Ramon C. Ojeda, 22, of Ramona, California.


Soldier Dies From Wounds Incurred in Tikrit

Spc. Trevor A. Wine, 22, of Orange, California, died May 1, in Tikrit, Iraq, from injuries sustained on April 30 when his convoy vehicle hit an improvised explosive device.  Wine was assigned to the Army's 24th Quartermaster Company, Fort Lewis, Washington.


 ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

IED Attack Kills Guard Member in Mosul

Sgt. Joshua S. Ladd, 20, of Fort Gibson, Mississippi, died May, in Mosul, Iraq, when his convoy vehicle hit an improvised explosive device.  Ladd was assigned to the Army National Guard's 367th Maintenance Company, DeKalb, Mississippi.
