  Senior Leadership

Senior Management's Perspective:

Kevin Mather

Executive Vice President and CFO

Seattle Mariners

"The Seattle Mariners is committed to fully supporting diversity with our supplier base. This has enabled us to establish and grow supplier relationships and partnerships with many high caliber minority- and woman-owned businesses (MWBEs). Our centralized procurement team is responsible for seeking and managing our suppliers, many of whom are MWBEs.   Our commitment to diversity starts with top management, and continues throughout the entire organization.  One of our most highly valued suppliers is Industry Graphics whom we have selected as the Seattle Mariners Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner for 2009/10. They are a minority/woman-owned graphics and sign company, producing numerous signs, banners, and vehicle graphics for our team during the last four years, while providing us with high-quality materials in a timely manner and at competitive prices."

  DBP Program Administrative Team

The DBP Program Administrator's Perspective:

Sandy Fielder

Director of Procurement

Seattle Mariners

"The Seattle Mariners fans are from many diverse backgrounds.  We constantly seek diversity in our suppliers as a reflection and support of our fan base and community. As Program Administrator for the Seattle Mariners DBP Program, I am one of many supporters within this organization whose passion is to seek out those MWBE companies who stand out amongst others in adding value to our procurement process.  Industry Graphics has been selected this year because they exemplify what it means to be an outstanding supplier for signage and graphics needs. We have worked with them for over four years, and they continually respond to our needs in a timely and professional manner, while providing excellent service,& high quality signage needs at competitive pricing."

"Our entire Procurement team has unanimously agreed that Industry Graphics is an extremely responsive and most deserving MWBE supplier of the Seattle Mariners.  We have all successfully developed on-going working relationships with this company, experiencing their responsiveness, commitment to our needs, high quality products and exceptionally competitive pricing.  During the start up of our season we relied upon Industry Graphics to supply numerous graphics and signage projects, both large and small, often within very tight turn around times.  They efficiently produced and delivered us signage for our ballpark and sponsors in a timely manner, displaying excellent customer service attitudes, high quality workmanship, and great prices.  For weeks, their entire team spent numerous hours on our projects, often coming in on weekends and evenings to get “rush” jobs completed for us.  The entire crew displays what it means to partner with us, and as a result has become one of our most dependable suppliers."

Business Diversity and the Seattle Mariners

Seattle Mariners

 Diverse Business Partners Program

The Seattle Mariners is committed to Supplier Diversity.  Our ball club actively seeks opportunities to create, build and increase utilization of highly qualified minority- and women-owned businesses for our supply base.

We work with Major League Baseball's Diverse Business Partners Program and with the Northwest Minority Business Council, which we have been members of since 1998.  As a member of these organizations, the Mariners work towards goals of creating and increasing procurement opportunities for highly qualified certified minority- and women-owned businesses (MWBEs) to work as one of our suppliers.

Our primary goal is to create and maintain an outstanding first-class ballpark experience for our fans.  We actively search our community for high quality MWBEs who can provide necessary products and services to meet our ongoing needs.  We have successfully established numerous partnerships, which reflect the diversity of our community and our fans.

Our supplier base is comprised of the same diverse cultural and economic base as our fans and that of our on-field ball player diversity.

Our diversity commitment extends to creation of a network of MWBEs, which support the Mariners, and allow us to grow, increasing minority presence and develop a potential new fan base.

The Seattle Mariners is an active member of the Northwest Minority Business Council, and regularly attends and participates in meetings, trade fairs and other opportunities to meet new minority suppliers.

Through active participation, we can meet with prospective new businesses, both in formal and informal settings.  We have conducted training classes at Safeco Field for suppliers and corporate entities, held "Meet the Buyer" seminars to gather both the corporate world and minority businesses together for seminars, and conducted the first Hispanic Day at the ballpark, featuring Hispanic businesses in our community.  I have served on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Minority Business Council for three years as well as volunteering to chair various council projects over the last ten years.

My buying staff takes an active part in utilizing MWBEs that provide high quality goods and services.  They actively search for new MWBEs and attend major minority business functions in our community.
