When
Jackie Robinson put on the uniform of a Brooklyn
Dodger and stepped up to plate, he not only
broke the color line in professional baseball,
but he forever changed Major League Baseball and
the role of professional sports in American
society. Since 1947, Major League Baseball
has been at the forefront of diversity in
professional sports - both on the field and off
- a fact Commissioner Bud Selig cherishes
deeply. In 1997, Commissioner Selig
authorized the establishment of the Diverse
Business Partners Program, a supplier
diversity initiative that is now a
model for the industry.
In 2006, Major
League Baseball was the first organization to
recognize it best performing diverse business
partners
through the America's Best Diverse Suppliers
Program.
This year marks
the 60th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's
historic contribution to the sport. In
recognition of Baseball's historic role in
advancing diversity within professional sports
and American society, diversityinbusiness.com
is pleased to debut its 2007 listing of America's Best Diverse
Suppliers with diverse business partners recognized by
the 2006 World Series Champions, the St.
Louis Cardinals.
The 2006 Season
was an extraordinary one for the Cardinals. To the surprise of many, the
Cardinals managed to not only distinguish
themselves as the League's best ball club, but
they achieved Baseball's highest honor in their
brand new ballpark, The New Busch Stadium.

Winning the World
Series in 2006 entitles the St. Louis Cardinals to
be the first
organization in 2007 to recognize outstanding suppliers as
America's Best Diverse Suppliers.
Each of the
organizations selected for the recognition had a significant role in building and
furnishing the New Busch Stadium, which the
Cardinals consider home to baseball's greatest
fans.
diversityinbusiness.com is pleased to
provide Major League Baseball and the St. Louis
Cardinals with this platform to recognize
organizations that are champions within the
respective fields.
