The Chicago
White Sox proudly recognize Taylor
Electric as one of our ten best
diverse suppliers of 2005. This
honor is given in recognition of Taylor
Electric's outstanding performance of a
mission-critical task during our most
important year in decades.
Come to U.S.
Cellular Field and you will see we use a
great deal of electricity to power our
scoreboard, the sound system, the media
box, the concessions, the suites and
just about everything else in the
facility. If anything goes wrong,
at any time - before, during, or
immediately following a game - we have a
serious problem on our hands.
In 2005, a
year marked by high attendance levels
and more games, we credit Taylor
Electric for helping us to make U.S.
Cellular Field the showplace of
champions.
Our
relationship with Taylor Electric dates
back to 1992, when we began looking for
a new electrical firm to service our
ballpark. It was very important to
our organization that minority firms
have the opportunity to participate in
the bid process. Don Esposito, who
is senior director of purchasing, construction
and maintenance for the Chicago White
Sox, developed a relationship with Taylor
Electric after learning about the
company's capabilities. After
several meetings, Don became convinced
that Taylor Electric could service our
electrical needs. The key issue
was price. Don and Rufus Taylor,
the founder of Taylor Electric, engaged
in a series of negotiations before
Taylor was awarded the contract.
Don still recalls what Mr. Taylor said
to him during the negotiations: “I would
not be here if I didn’t think we could
do (the work), and do it in a way that
far exceeds your expectations.”
Mr. Taylor passed away several
years ago, but his daughter, Martha
Taylor, has seen to it that
Taylor Electric continues with
the same high performance
standards her
late father brought to our
organization in 1992.
It is a real honor for the
Chicago White Sox to recognize
Taylor Electric
as one of America's Best Diverse
Suppliers(R). With Taylor
Electric on our roster, we look
forward to a truly bright 2006
Season.
